Barriers to Weight Loss: What's Your Motivation?

So what motivates you?

This is an important question that you need to seriously think about and answer. Really. Everyone wants to lose weight but not everyone wants to do what it takes to lose weight. And that's the key between those who lose the weight and keep it off and those who never start or who gain the weight back.

So I ask again: What motivates you?

My motivation is vanity. Yeah I know that may be bad but it's true. I like being able to wear little black dresses and stilettos. I like being able to fit into my skinny jeans. I like believing I look good when I walk out the door and having others think so as well. LOL.

So that's my motivation. What's yours?

Today is a new day. So what are you waiting for?

It's not an excuse by any means, but I hate to exercise. Period. I also realize that I need to do it whether I want to or not. My motivation to get off my butt has more to do with preserving my health than anything else.

Yeah. Exercise sucks...lol. There's a post coming about that soon. But if health motivates you then great! I wish it did for everyone then we'd all be in better shape.

My motivation to exercise comes from a number of sources. I must agree with the other blogger who noted that they exercise for vanity sake. While that is my daily motivation, I hope that my long term goals take more precedence than that. I am young and know that the if I dont get this "college weight" off, it won't be long before it is permanent. I also want, in the next 10-15yrs, to have healthy children and play an active role in their life (and I would hate to have my weight be a barrier to that).
But my motivation to fit in that little, black dress in Saks window for this fall is what is getting me on that Treadmill....LOL
